Plan of Operation – Furnace
Fuel is burned in the combustion chamber, generating heat.
Normal wood burning gases -ventilated and trapped by a cyclone, which will lower emissions when compared to a residential wood stove
Ash is evacuated onto a conveyor below the furnace, to a bin, for regular disposal in the Val d’Or landfill.
Heat is transferred to “thermal oil” in a large heat exchanger located above the boiler’s combustion chamber. This oil is circulated and has no emissions.
Thermal oil is pumped to a second heat exchanger located in the ORC building, transferring heat to the turbine.
Plan of Operation – Generator
Heat exchanger transfers heat to a second working fluid.
Fluid vaporizes, increasing pressure in the generation chamber.
High pressure gas enters ORC turbine and turns turbine fan blades;
Gas is piped back to an external air-cooled condenser, and turns it into liquid
‘Closed loop’, so zero gas emissions, just like a home radiator
Monitored onsite through a six-screen office, and remotely 24/7 by the equipment suppliers
Fuel Supply and Harvesting
No harvesting activities within the community or on the traditional lands of Barriere Lake.
One truck load per day is all that is required
Community – final approval on the fuel supply arrangements, which means every year the community will select where the fiber will come from.
All fuel will come from outside harvesters utilizing waste wood from their harvesting activities.
Normally this fiber is wasted because it is burned on the roadside of logging operations.
Uses everything the forest gives us, so nothing goes to waste
ABLFN can establish:
Harvesting crews to clean up the nearby lands and bring material to the biomass plant as fuel. Reforestation can occur.
Its own resource management regime and take over management of the lands from the Province of Quebec.
Mitigokaa wants to improve its communications and listen to your concerns, questions and comments. This platform allows you to learn about the company and its biomass project. The platform also allows you to ask your questions.
